Attr. Ransbottom Bros. Stoneware Poultry Waterer - 2 chips on rim. This antique stoneware poultry waterer, also known as a chicken fount, is attributed to the Ransbottom Bros. Pottery Co. of Roseville, Ohio, based on its distinctive form and web consensus for visually identical items. The piece consists of a cylindrical body transitioning into a conical shoulder, topped with a solid, rounded knob finial. It features an integrated hooded drinking well at the base and an internal reservoir designed to operate on a vacuum principle, allowing water to flow through a small hole as needed. The fount is finished in a light tan or buff Bristol-type glaze with a salt-glazed texture, showing typical minor peppering and iron spotting. A shallow, partially illegible impressed maker mark is located on the shoulder. The unglazed base displays prominent wire-cut marks from the manufacturing process.
