Wooden S.S. United States Battery Model Ship - 24 inches long. This large scale battery operated model of the ocean liner S.S. United States is attributed to the Japanese manufacturer Ito based on accompanying provenance. The model is primarily constructed of wood with a black painted hull, white superstructure, and a red underside. The bow features white block lettering reading S. S. UNITED STATES on both sides. The vessel is designed for twin-screw propulsion, containing two internal electric motors wired to two three-bladed metal propellers. The interior of the hull is finished in green paint and includes spring-loaded battery contacts and associated wiring. The upper decks feature natural wood planking, brass-tone metal railings, and dual red and blue funnels. Numerous lifeboats are mounted on davits along the superstructure. The red painted underside of the hull is marked with the numerals 1 4 5 0 in black ink. This item is accompanied by a purchase record identifying the piece as an Ito Japan production.
