Various Publishers, Postcards, c. 1900-1915 - An assortment of early 20th-century postcards, representing a diverse array of paper ephemera from the Golden Age of postcards. The collection includes various printing techniques such as color lithography, heavily embossed cardstock, and real photo postcards (RPPC). One novelty leatherette card is present, embossed with the motto To be trusted is greater than to be loved. Subject matter spans several categories: holiday greetings for Christmas, New Year?s, and Valentine's Day; sentimental and romantic scenes; floral studies; and humorous comic cards. Specific titles and captions include A Chicken Sandwich, Easy Money, A Camel can go eight days without a drink... who wants to be a camel?, and He who eats a peck of hay knows how we feed here every day - Summer Boarders Taken In. Topographical and souvenir cards feature views of Toronto, View of Fort Terry, N.Y., and the Illinois Hotel, Bloomington, Ill. A regional novelty card features a blue pennant for Steubenville, Ohio with the text Because I live in I should worry! Look who lives here too.
