Antique Cast Iron Turtle String Holder - This cast iron decorative object is designed as a novelty string or yarn holder in the form of a turtle. The piece consists of two separate components: a flat, footed base depicting the head, legs, and tail of a turtle, and a removable domed shell. The shell features a decorative open-work lattice pattern with a circular aperture at the crown, allowing string or twine to be fed through from a spool stored inside. The base features a webbed geometric interior design. The entire object is constructed from cast iron with a pebbled surface texture typical of traditional sand casting.
