H.D. Beach Charles Ehlen Friends Tin Litho Charger - 16 in diameter. This circular tin lithograph charger, titled Friends, was manufactured by the H. D. Beach Co. of Coshocton, Ohio, circa 1905. The decorative piece features a sentimental portrait after the artist Charles Ehlen (identified on the reverse label as Chas. Ettlen). The image depicts a young woman with a red rose in her dark hair, wearing a white ruffled garment, shown in a close embrace with a chestnut horse. The horse is detailed with a leather bridle and buckles. The background is rendered in soft, painterly strokes of blue, cream, and yellow. The charger is constructed with a raised, dark-toned rim and a reverse finished in blue paint. A decorative handwritten paper label is affixed to the back, documenting the maker, location, date, title, and artist. A hanging wire is attached to the reverse rim.
