Imperial Glass Purple Slag Hen Nest Covered Dish - This covered animal dish is crafted in the form of a nesting hen resting on a basketweave base. The piece is made of purple slag glass, a type of pressed marble glass characterized by its distinctive swirled pattern of deep amethyst purple and opaque white. The lid is molded into the shape of a hen with detailed feathering on the body and tail, a textured comb, and a defined beak. The base features a matching variegated color pattern with a molded basketweave texture on the exterior. On the center underside of the base, there is a molded maker mark consisting of a capital letter I superimposed over a capital letter G, identifying it as a product of the Imperial Glass Corporation.
