Purple & Blue Slag Glass Rooster Covered Dish - A two-piece covered animal dish in the form of a rooster, executed in marbled slag glass. The glass features a variegated colorway of opaque white swirled with shades of medium blue and dark purple-brown. The lid is molded in the form of a rooster with detailed texturing representing feathers, a distinct comb, and a wattle. The base is a corresponding footed bowl with a textured feather pattern on the exterior. The interior of the bowl and the underside of the lid reveal the characteristic color blending of slag glass production. No factory markings or embossed symbols are visible on the underside of the base or the interior rim. This piece is attributed to mid-20th-century American manufacturers such as Westmoreland Specialty Co. or Imperial Glass Company, which produced similar molded animal dishes in various slag glass colorways.
