Los Castillo Pluma Jewelry & Whitehead & Hoag Pins - This collection includes a Mexican silver pendant and several early 20th-century tobacco premium pinback buttons. The triangular pendant is attributed to the Los Castillo workshop in Taxco, Mexico, and features the Pluma Azteca or Aztec Feather mosaic technique. The stylized design depicts an archer and a bird in flight, rendered with pink, yellow, green, and iridescent feathers set into the metal under a protective coating. The reverse is stamped with Hecho en Mexico, circular marks for Pluma Azteca and Castillo Taxco, and the numeral 30. A fixed triangular bail is attached at the top. The pinback buttons comprise three stickpin-style pieces manufactured by The Whitehead & Hoag Co. of Newark, New Jersey. Each button displays a lithographed Art Nouveau portrait of a young woman with flowers in her hair. The largest button bears a 1907 copyright date on the lower edge. The two smaller buttons retain original paper backings identifying them as premiums for Perfection Cigarettes, featuring a patent date of July 21, 1896.
