Mid-20th C. O/C Portrait of a Magician - 27 x 27.5. This mid-20th-century oil on canvas painting depicts a male figure, appearing to be a magician or card player, seated at a dark green table. The subject is dressed in a formal black tuxedo featuring bright blue lapels and a red carnation on his lapel. On the table before him is an assortment of objects, including a fan of playing cards, a gold-toned pocket watch with a chain, an open wallet, a long cigarette holder, and a rolled-up newspaper. The background is a textured green wall adorned with a three-arm crystal candelabra holding three candles and two small framed paintings. One small painting depicts a female artist with a palette and the other shows an animal in a landscape. The floor is rendered in a dark and light checkerboard pattern.
