Mid-20th Century Hand-Appliqued and Hand-Quilted Cotton Tulip Pattern Quilt - 66 x 90 This is a hand-appliqued and hand-quilted cotton bed quilt featuring a stylized floral motif. The quilt top is composed of sixteen square blocks, each displaying four floral buds in pink and green fabric arranged in a quatrefoil design on a white ground. The blocks are separated by solid green sashing and joined by white cornerstones featuring hand-quilted circular floral designs. The quilting is executed by hand in linear patterns across the sashing and follows the contours of the applique motifs. The front is constructed from solid-colored cotton fabrics in shades of green and pink, characteristic of mid-20th century textiles. The backing consists of a printed cotton fabric with a vertical stripe and Lily of the Valley floral sprig motif in coordinating pink and green. The style of the backing fabric suggests the quilt top may have been finished or backed during the late 20th-century quilt revival period.
