Mid-20th C. Hand-Appliqued Floral Basket Quilt - 78 x 90 This is a mid-20th-century bed quilt featuring hand-appliqued floral motifs on a white cotton ground. The central design depicts a flower basket constructed from a green and white gingham lattice. The basket contains a variety of pastel-colored flowers, including a prominent yellow daffodil, large pink blossoms, and a blue flower, with several smaller buds. A large, stylized blue ribbon bow is positioned above the basket. This central motif is framed by a lobed quatrefoil border. Each corner of the quilt is decorated with a segment of the matching gingham lattice and a curved vine of three pink flowers with green leaves. The entire surface is hand-quilted in a consistent diagonal diamond grid pattern. The quilt is finished with a decorative scalloped edge bound with narrow green and white gingham fabric. The reverse of the quilt is plain white, showing the hand-quilted stitching.
