Antique American Indigo and White Hand-Stitched Cotton Quilt in Carolina Lily Pattern - 60 x 72 An antique American two-color pieced quilt featuring the Carolina Lily pattern, sometimes referred to as the Wood Lily or Tulip pattern. The piece is composed of indigo-dyed cotton and a white cotton ground. The design consists of sixteen primary blocks, each containing a central square flanked by four stylized lily motifs. These primary blocks are separated by smaller geometric units. The textile features exceptionally dense hand-quilting in cross-hatch and diamond motifs throughout the pieced sections and the white negative space. The backing is constructed from plain white cotton. No maker labels or marks were identified during inspection.
