Antique American Hand-Pieced Cotton Quilt Top - 74 x 84 This is a hand-pieced antique American patchwork quilt top featuring a postage stamp checkerboard pattern. The central field consists of alternating solid pink squares and a variety of printed cotton fabrics, including indigo-dyed geometrics, purple and white ginghams, monochrome stripes, and small-scale calico florals. The top is finished with a wide, multi-layered border composed of concentric strips of several printed fabrics, including a dark floral print, a striped pattern, and a circular bubble motif on a light ground. The piece is entirely hand-stitched with visible running stitches on the reverse side of the seams.
