American Lone Star Hand-Quilted Cotton Quilt - 64 x 94 This is a vintage handmade American bed quilt featuring a central Lone Star or Star of Bethlehem motif. The large eight-pointed star is constructed from numerous hand-pieced diamond segments using a variety of cotton and cotton-blend fabrics, including solids, calicos, florals, and geometric prints. The color palette of the star radiates from a yellow center through concentric rings of orange, red, navy blue, pink, light blue, and green fabrics. The quilt is set against an off-white cotton ground. The side borders are composed of vertical strips of multi-colored diamonds arranged in a chevron-like pattern. The top and bottom borders feature blue fabric panels with inset diamond patches, flanked by smaller patchwork star blocks in red, white, and yellow prints. Hand-quilting is visible throughout the white field, following the silhouette of the central star and transitioning into straight-line patterns near the edges. The reverse side consists of off-white cotton fabric, showing the visible hand-stitching of the quilting process.
