American Pinwheel Pattern Cotton Quilt, 1930 - 74 x 76 This vintage American bed quilt is hand-pieced and hand-quilted, featuring a repeating pinwheel block pattern, which is a variant of the Dutchman's Puzzle. The blocks are constructed from various medium-blue calico and patterned fabrics alternating with cream-ground floral prints. The quilt features a blue-and-white sawtooth or flying geese patterned inner border and is finished with a purple floral calico outer binding. One of the blocks features hand-embroidery in pink thread reading MOM 1930. The piece is hand-quilted throughout in a diagonal grid or crosshatch pattern.
