Antique Red & White Double Irish Chain Quilt - 66 x 66 This hand-pieced and hand-quilted cotton quilt is executed in the classic Double Irish Chain pattern. The design features a high-contrast palette of red and white. Small red squares form an interlocking lattice across the central field. The large alternating white blocks contain elaborate hand-quilted designs, specifically central four-lobed foliate medallions. The background of these blocks and the red squares themselves are further embellished with hand-quilted diagonal cross-hatching. The quilt is finished with a solid red inner border and a wide white outer border that features a hand-quilted wavy cable motif. The reverse side consists of plain white cotton fabric, clearly displaying the pattern of the manual stitching.
