Pictorial Appliqu? Cotton Quilt Featuring Indigenous Style Figures and Ikat Geometric Borders - 86 x 90 A hand-stitched pictorial quilt constructed on a white cotton ground. The textile features twelve rectangular panels arranged in a four-by-three grid. Each panel contains a centrally positioned appliqu? figure depicted with long black braids, shown from either a posterior or simplified frontal view. The figures are dressed in various solid-colored garments, including tunics, dresses, and jumpsuits in shades of blue, red, pink, purple, brown, and green. Several figures include a cross-hatched red band across the crown of the head. The panels and the overall border are composed of a printed cotton fabric featuring a multi-colored ikat-style geometric pattern in red, yellow, green, and black. The piece exhibits extensive hand-quilting, with the reverse side showing the stitched outlines of the figures and borders. The style of the figures is consistent with Southwestern pictorial patterns such as Little Chief and Sister Sioux or Best Friends.
