American Hand Quilted Dresden Plate Quilt - 64 x 84 A vintage American scrap quilt featuring sixteen blocks arranged in a four-by-four grid. Each block contains a Dresden Plate motif, a pattern consensus also known as a Friendship Flower, composed of radiating petals made from varied cotton scrap fabrics including calico, checks, stripes, and feed sack style floral prints. The centers of the plates are finished with circular hubs in mustard yellow, light blue, or navy blue solids. The motifs are set against a cream-colored ground and separated by a bold red fabric sashing. The quilt is finished with a matching red binding. The construction is hand-quilted throughout, featuring a traditional clamshell or fan pattern in the background areas and outline quilting along the seams of the individual petals. The reverse side is a solid off-white fabric that displays the hand-stitching.
