Mid-20th C. Double-Sided Corduroy & Satin Crazy - 72 x 82 A hand-pieced crazy quilt top composed of a diverse array of repurposed fabric scraps. The front, or recto, features a string-pieced design organized into a grid of 56 blocks arranged seven wide by eight high. These blocks are constructed from heavy-weight materials, primarily corduroy and various synthetic satin fabrics, interspersed with occasional plaid cotton patches. The patches are arranged in diagonal, fan-shaped, and geometric patterns, utilizing a bold color palette of saturated purple, burgundy, emerald green, mustard yellow, bright orange, and red. The construction utilizes a rustic quilt-as-you-go technique where the seams are joined with the raw edges exposed on the reverse side. The entire piece exhibits a folk-art or utilitarian character, likely assembled from clothing remnants.
