WWII 101st Airborne Division Personal Photograph Album and Ephemera Germany 1945 - A personal photograph album compiled by a U.S. serviceman documenting the period immediately following World War II in Europe. The album contains original black and white snapshots, several of which show soldiers in uniforms wearing the 101st Airborne Division Screaming Eagle shoulder sleeve insignia. The opening page features a handwritten inscription in ink stating PICTURES. TAKEN IN GERMANY IN THE MONTHS OF. MAY-JUNE 1945. Individual photographs are captioned with names and hometowns including IZZY. Ashtabula, WAKELAND - DENVER, and W. F. Day - N. C. One location is identified as WEISNBACH - GERMANY JUNE 1st - 45. The imagery includes group portraits of servicemen, a soldier lifting a makeshift weight, rural German landscapes with cattle, and local architecture. Included with the album is a loose black and white landscape photograph showing a hilltop structure and a small vintage color novelty card featuring a race car with red spiral wheels captioned KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE WHEEL in circular motion and WATCH T SPIN. The album is bound in a coarse tan woven fabric with a red windowpane check pattern.
