An Assortment of World War II US Army Airborne Insignia, Medal, and European Ephemera - This collection consists of a US Army Good Conduct Medal, a theater-made paratrooper jump wing, German currency, a Bavarian postage stamp, and a veteran portrait photograph. The US Army Good Conduct Medal features a circular bronze planchet with a perched eagle on a closed book and vertical sword. The obverse is inscribed Efficiency Honor Fidelity and the reverse bears the text For Good Conduct within a wreath of oak and laurel. It is suspended from a red ribbon with three white stripes on each edge and a period slot-brooch pin assembly. The paratrooper jump wing insignia is hand-embroidered with gold and silver-toned bullion wire on a red felt oval backing. The reverse shows a blue mesh fabric, which is characteristic of theater-made or private-purchase insignia from the European Theater of Operations. The currency is a series 1937 German 1 Rentenmark banknote, issued by the Deutsche Rentenbank and dated Berlin, January 30, 1937, with serial number K 68 05385. The postage stamp is a 15 Pfennig orange Bavaria stamp with a Volksstaat Bayern overprint, presented on a paper clipping with a partial cancellation mark. The group is completed by a black and white studio portrait photograph of a man in a civilian suit and tie.
