A Group of WWII U.S. Army 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment Insignia and Ephemera - A collection of World War II era United States Army airborne related militaria and personal ephemera. The lot includes an embroidered paratrooper wing background oval featuring a blue center, a red middle ring, and a white outer border, which is the pattern attributed to the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR). Also included is a circular non-regulation or sweetheart sleeve insignia featuring a red wool field with a gold-toned bullion embroidered parachute. The grouping contains a single overseas service bar consisting of a diagonal green stripe on a dark wool background, representing six months of service abroad. A single ribbon bar for the Army Good Conduct Medal (red with six white stripes) is mounted on a brass pin-back base. Ephemera in the lot consists of a pre-WWII German 1 Rentenmark banknote, dated January 2, 1937, issued by the Deutsche Rentenbank in Berlin. The obverse bears serial number J 4304756. Completing the group is a black and white studio portrait photograph of a man in a civilian suit and tie, possibly the veteran, wearing what appears to be an honorable discharge lapel pin.
