Bidspirit auction | Two WWII German Combat Awards:

Two WWII German Combat Awards: Luftwaffe Ground Assault Badge and 1939 Wound Badge in Black - This lot features two original German combat awards from the World War II era. The first item is a Luftwaffe Ground Assault Badge (Erdkampfabzeichen der Luftwaffe). This example is constructed from zinc (Kriegsmetall) and is maker marked on the reverse with the LDO code L/60, identifying it as the work of Gustav Brehmer, Markneukirchen. The badge utilizes a multi-piece, three-rivet construction method. Its design consists of an oval wreath of oak leaves enclosing a stylized lightning bolt striking downward from a cloud, with a Luftwaffe-style eagle clutching a swastika at the top. The reverse hardware includes a soldered barrel-style hinge, a round wire pin, and a standard C-style catch. The second item is a 1939 Wound Badge in Black (Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz). It is a stamped, hollow-back (hohlgepr?gt) award made of sheet metal, likely steel. The reverse is stamped with the manufacturer code 65, indicating production by Klein and Quenzer A.G., Idar-Oberstein. The obverse features an M35 steel helmet embossed with a swastika, superimposed over crossed swords on a pebbled background, all within an oval laurel leaf wreath. The badge is fitted with an integrated hinge and catch assembly and a needle-style pin.
