WWII German Kriegsmarine Minesweeper War Badge by Schwerin Berlin - A German Kriegsmarine Minesweeper, Sub-Marine Hunter, and Cruiser-Escort War Badge (Kriegsabzeichen fuer Minensuch-, U-Boots-Jagd- und Sicherungsverbaende). This award is a die-struck tombac construction with a multi-tone finish. The obverse features an oval oak-leaf wreath in a gold-toned finish, topped by a national eagle with outspread wings clutching a swastika. The center of the badge depicts a silver-toned water plume resulting from a sea mine explosion, rising from stylized ocean waves. The reverse features a vertical, tapered ”coke-bottle” shaped pin, a block-style hinge, and a soldered wire catch. The reverse is marked with two lines of raised, die-struck lettering: FEC. OTTO PLACZEK BERLIN and AUSF. SCHWERIN BERLIN.
