S. Vietnam & US PSYOP Leaflets, 1968-69 - A collection of original psychological operations (PSYOP) and propaganda materials produced by the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam) in cooperation with the Joint United States Public Affairs Office (JUSPAO) during the Vietnam War. The assortment includes leaflets directed at both civilian populations and opposing North Vietnamese Army (NVA) and Viet Cong (VC) combatants. A primary item is a Safe-Conduct Pass (Giay Thong-Hanh) featuring the flag of the Republic of Vietnam surrounded by the flags of the United States, South Korea, Australia, Thailand, the Philippines, and New Zealand. The reverse of the pass shows a portrait and facsimile signature of President Nguyen Van Thieu. The collection further includes a Chieu Hoi (Open Arms) defection leaflet coded H7-206-69, a mine awareness leaflet illustrating Soviet-style and improvised mines coded 7-751-68, a color civic action leaflet depicting marketplace activity coded 8-799 (2 3/4), and village evacuation warning leaflets including code 7-244-69. The items are printed on paper with a combination of typographic text, line drawings, and color lithography.
