Signal Electric Art Deco Clamshell Fan - Manufactured by the Signal Electric Mfg. Co. of Menominee, Michigan, this antique 12in electric desk fan works as it should! The unit is constructed with a stepped cast iron base, a steel motor housing, and a four-blade steel rotor. The most prominent feature is the geometric steel wire cage guard, often referred to by collectors as the clamshell or butterfly model due to its angular, multi-faceted form. The base is equipped with a single metal toggle switch. A circular medallion is mounted on the base, featuring a stylized script monogram intertwined with an S and circular border text identifying the manufacturer location as Menominee, Michigan. The power cord is a twisted-pair fabric-covered wire.
