Antique Oak Stave Gathering Basket - 18in dia. This is an antique or vintage gathering basket, constructed using the stave method. The body consists of vertical wooden slats, likely oak, which are secured with metal tacks to a flat, circular wooden base. Two horizontal wooden bands reinforce the structure, one at the midpoint and one at the rim. The basket features two bentwood handles integrated into the rim, supported by diagonal bracing slats. The construction demonstrates traditional utility-ware techniques common in the late 19th to early 20th century. Has cracks and chipped off pcs throughout.
