New Haven Clock Co. 8-Day Banjo Clock - 17.5 in tall A traditional banjo-style wall clock manufactured by the New Haven Clock Company. The case is constructed of wood with a dark mahogany finish, featuring a circular head, a tapered throat, and a rectangular base. The top of the clock is surmounted by a cast metal eagle finial. The throat section is flanked by brass-tone metal side scrolls and features a central panel with a green and gold scrolling foliate lithograph under glass. The lower rectangular section contains a hinged door with a color lithographic glass panel depicting George Washington?s Mount Vernon estate. The cream-colored dial displays gold-tone Arabic numerals and black spade-shaped hands. Inscriptions on the dial include 8 DAY, JEWELED BALANCE, New Haven in script, and THE NEW HAVEN CLOCK CO. U.S.A. along the lower edge. The reverse shows a single winding arbor and a regulation slot marked F and S.
