Adlake C&O RR Signal Lantern, Red Globe - 9 in tall. This antique railroad signal lantern was manufactured by The Adams and Westlake Company, known as Adlake, of Chicago for use by the Chesapeake and Ohio (C&O) Railroad. The lantern features a steel or tinned iron frame with a short-globe configuration. The top chimney cap is embossed with the manufacturer information reading THE ADAMS AND WESTLAKE CO CHICAGO. The shoulder of the frame is stamped with the railroad initials C and O and includes the rectangular Adlake trademark logo. The lantern is equipped with a wire bail handle with finger-grip loops, a protective wire cage, a vented chimney, and a bottom-mounted oil fount containing a burner and wick mechanism. The globe is made of ruby red glass.
