19th C. American 12-Tube Candle Mold - 10.5x7.5x3.5 This antique 12-tube candle mold is a representative example of 19th-century American utilitarian household hardware. The item is constructed from hand-soldered tinned sheet iron. The design consists of twelve cylindrical tubes arranged in a two-by-six grid, supported by a rectangular top reservoir tray and a matching bottom frame. The top tray features a raised rim intended to catch excess wax during the pouring process. Each individual tube terminates in a tapered point with a small centered hole for the insertion of a wick. A single arched strap handle is soldered to one long side of the upper reservoir. No manufacturer marks or stamps are visible on the metal surfaces; the item currently bears a modern paper auction inventory tag attached to the handle.
