Franklin Mint Jefferson Str. Gold Plate - This 1973 Official Bicentennial Commemorative Plate was produced by the Franklin Mint for the Bicentennial Council of the Thirteen Original States. The plate is constructed of solid sterling silver and features a central 24-karat gold-electroplated relief depicting Thomas Jefferson seated at a Windsor chair while writing the Declaration of Independence. The obverse border is etched with a script quotation reading ”We hold these truths to be self-evident...” and the name ”Thomas Jefferson” at the base. The reverse of the plate features a central medallion with the following transcription: THE 1973 OFFICIAL BICENTENNIAL COMMEMORATIVE PLATE, ISSUED BY THE BICENTENNIAL COUNCIL OF THE THIRTEEN ORIGINAL STATES, SOLID STERLING SILVER INLAID AND ELECTROPLATED WITH 24 KARAT GOLD.
