Fly Rod Crosby & Detroit Pub. Postcards - 17x8 A group of four early 20th-century color photomechanical postcards depicting outdoor sporting life in Maine. The top card is titled The Famous Fly Rod landing a big one at Mt. Kineo, Moosehead Lake, Me. and features a depiction of the famous angler and Maine guide Cornelia Fly Rod Crosby. Two cards are from the B. & A. Series (Bangor & Aroostook Railroad), titled Camp on Schoodic Lake, Maine and On The Moose River, with the latter showing hunters in a canoe with a harvested deer. The fourth card, published by the Detroit Publishing Co. (serial 6648), is titled Canoeing in the Maine Woods and bears a manuscript date of Feb 20 1906 and the signature Abbie Saunders on the front. The Camp on Schoodic Lake card also features a manuscript inscription in French. The collection is mounted in a multi-aperture cream-colored mat and housed in a modern black metal frame. A label for Christensens Frame & Art of Wethersfield, CT, is affixed to the reverse. Approximate frame dimensions: 24 x 10 inches.
