A.C. Williams Elephant Howdah Bank - 4x3 This cast iron still bank is fashioned in the form of a standing elephant, attributed to the A. C. Williams Co. The bank is constructed from two cast halves joined by a single flat-head screw on the left side. The elephant is depicted in a static pose with its trunk curled inward. On its back is a rectangular howdah that features a coin slot at the top. The sides of the saddle are embossed with twin crescent moon and star motifs within a decorative border. The lower border of the saddle blanket displays raised, embossed characters that are not clearly legible due to wear and the nature of the casting. The piece features a worn gold-toned painted finish over a dark base metal.
