Royal Games Mahjong Set w/ Racks & Case - This vintage mahjong set is attributed to Royal Games, featuring a design and hardware style consistent with the manufacturer mid-20th-century production. The set consists of a collection of cream-colored tiles constructed from marbled early plastic, featuring deeply incised and hand-painted traditional characters and symbols including dragons, flowers, seasons, and the three suits. Included in the set is a group of marbled Catalin or Bakelite racks in various colors, including bright red, emerald green, and butterscotch. Each rack is equipped with an integrated brass-toned metal coin-holder mechanism at one end. The set also includes two translucent red dice with white pips. The items are housed in a rectangular carrying case with a textured brown faux-alligator synthetic exterior, a dark maroon plastic handle, and brass-toned metal latches. The interior of the lid is finished with a red fabric lining. A lot tag from a previous auction is affixed to the exterior of the case.
