Bidspirit auction | Griswold Erie 714 Cast Iron

Griswold Erie 714 Cast Iron Scotch Bowl - This is an antique American cast iron Scotch bowl manufactured by the Griswold Manufacturing Co. of Erie, Pennsylvania. The vessel features a rounded, cauldron-like form with sloping sides and a flat heat ring on the base, designed for use on traditional wood or coal-burning stove eyes. It is equipped with two integrated side ears that hold a wrought-metal wire bail handle. The base is embossed with the arched text ERIE above the state abbreviation PA. The center of the base displays the pattern number 714, and the size number 3 is positioned at the bottom. This specific marking style, featuring the ERIE name without the later Griswold cross logo, indicates production from the late 19th to early 20th century, approximately 1880 to 1905.
