19th C. American Two-Drawer Ballot Box - 8x6x8 An antique wooden miniature two-drawer chest, identified by its form as a ballot box. The piece is characterized by a turned wooden funnel-shaped aperture permanently mounted to the center of the top surface, designed for the insertion of ballots or tokens. The cabinet is constructed using stained hardwood primary surfaces, likely cherry or maple, with secondary softwood pine used for the drawer interiors. The drawers are assembled using simple butt joints and small finishing nails rather than dovetail joinery. Each drawer is fitted with a single turned wooden pull. The drawer interiors are lined with a dark fabric material. No maker's marks or signatures are present. A modern white inventory tag is attached to the top funnel.
