J. Chein & Co. Wind-up Walking Popeye - 6.5 in tall. This mechanical wind-up walking figure was manufactured by J. Chein and Co. and features the licensed character Popeye the Sailor Man. The toy is constructed from lithographed tin panels joined with metal tabs. Popeye is depicted in a traditional navy blue sailor shirt with a wide orange and yellow collar, blue trousers, and yellow shoes. His forearms are decorated with anchor tattoos, and the character name POPEYE is printed in yellow across the front of his sailor hat. An original pipe accessory is attached to the mouth. The reverse of the figure contains an integrated metal winding key. Markings on the back include a circular orange and yellow label stating J. CHEIN and CO. MADE IN U.S.A. below the winding key. An orange band printed along the lower back reads ? 1932 - KING FEATURES SYNDICATE, INC.
