Swedish Folk Art Painted Wood Domed Box - 9.5x5.5x4.5 A Swedish folk art painted wooden box, often referred to as an allmoge casket, featuring a domed lid. The exterior is finished in blue paint and decorated with hand-painted floral motifs including red and pink roses with green foliage. The design includes black corner spandrels on the lid and a scalloped white border along the bottom edge of the lid. A metal lock escutcheon is mounted to the front panel. The box opens on two metal hinges to a natural wood interior that holds a removable three-compartment wooden tray. The construction utilizes simple joinery and small nails. No maker marks, signatures, or labels are present on the piece.
