Antique Pine Ogee Front 4-Drawer Chest - 35x20x39 A mid-19th-century country chest of drawers featuring an ogee-molded front. The piece is constructed primarily of pine with secondary woods appearing to be pine and poplar. It contains four full-width drawers with ogee-shaped fronts. The drawer sides are joined to the fronts using rabbeted construction secured with nails, characteristic of provincial craftsmanship. The chest is fitted with eight turned wooden mushroom-shaped knobs and four brass keyhole escutcheons. The back features wide vertical boards finished with a reddish-brown wash. The top surface has a raised rectangular panel inset and secured with exposed fasteners. The case is supported by a cutout bracket base.
