John Falter, East Meets West Lithograph - 26x32 This offset lithographic print after a painting by John Falter, titled East Meets West, depicts the historic Golden Spike ceremony at Promontory Summit, Utah, on May 10, 1869. The detailed composition illustrates the meeting of the Central Pacific Railroad's Jupiter locomotive and the Union Pacific Railroad's 119 locomotive, surrounded by a celebratory crowd including laborers, soldiers, and various dignitaries. The print features an in-plate signature and date, John Falter 75, written vertically on the side of the central wooden telegraph pole. The crossbeam of the pole also bears the faint inscription FT.
