Patterson's Seal Cut Plug Lunchbox Tin - 6.25x4.5x5 This lithographed tinplate tobacco box features a yellow and black basketweave pattern designed in a lunchbox style. Produced by the R.A. Patterson Tobacco Company of Richmond, Virginia, the tin includes a hinged lid and a double-wire folding handle. The lid is lithographed with decorative script reading Patterson's Seal Cut Plug followed by the slogan Its the Quality. The front panel displays a circular gold-toned logo featuring a central seal motif surrounded by the text R.A. PATTERSON TOBACCO CO. RICHMOND, VA. ESTABLISHED 1856 FULL WEIGHT. Along the bottom front edge, the tin is marked THE AMERICAN TOBACCO COMPANY, SUCCESSOR. The back of the tin contains a legal caution notice regarding the reuse of the package for tobacco, citing Factory No. 1, District of Virginia. The interior and one exterior side exhibit remnants of a green U.S. internal revenue tax stamp. The underside of the tin has a gold-toned finish with a rectangular recessed base.
