Cope Bros & Co Peerless Cigaretos Box - 16.5x9x6 An antique bulk storage and display box for Peerless Brand Cigaretos, manufactured by the Liverpool tobacco firm Cope Bros and Co. The box is constructed from solid wood and features a slide-out lid. Lithographed paper labels are applied to all exterior faces and the underside of the lid. The exterior decoration includes a repeating Greek key border in black and ochre, framing detailed Victorian scrollwork and floral patterns. The front panel is marked Peerless Brand Cigaretos and Manufactured by Cope Bros and Co within a scrolled banner. The side panel is labeled 1000 Mild Cigaretos, indicating the original commercial capacity. The interior of the lid features a central lithograph portrait of a woman in an oval frame, surrounded by cherubs and floral garlands. Above the portrait is the text Copes Fine Cigaretos and below is The Peerless Brand. The interior floor of the box shows natural wood grain. Several small iron nails are visible around the base.
