1911 Ohio Hiring Category License Plate - 14x5.5 This early automotive registration tag is an Ohio specialty license plate designated for the Hiring classification, used for commercial passenger vehicles during the early 20th century. The plate is constructed of heavy-gauge steel with a deep cobalt blue porcelain enamel finish and white characters. It displays the registration number 10442 followed by a large capital letter H enclosed within a white circle, which was the specific designation for vehicles for hire. The plate is designed with six mounting points: a circular hole at each of the four corners and two elongated horizontal slots along the top edge. The reverse side is finished in white porcelain enamel with a characteristic orange peel texture and multiple firing marks or pits from the manufacturing process. A small modern white inventory sticker with the number 125 is affixed to the lower right corner of the front face.
