Bidspirit auction | Wrought Iron Pedestal Betty Grease

Wrought Iron Pedestal Betty Grease Lamp - 8x6 An antique wrought iron grease lamp of the Betty lamp variety, featuring an elevated font mounted on a central pedestal. The reservoir is designed with a square-fronted spout and a hinged lid, which remains attached to the front body. A charred, fibrous textile wick remnant is visible within the spout. The font is supported by a vertical iron stem that transitions into a conical base, which is permanently integrated into a wide, shallow circular drip pan, historically referred to as a tidy stand. A curved C-shaped handle is welded to the back of the font and the mid-section of the stem. The construction is primitive and reflects hand-forged techniques typical of early American lighting apparatus from the 18th to mid-19th centuries. No maker stamps, signatures, or hallmarks are discernible on the surface. Drip pan diameter: approximately 6?8 inches.
