Trio 19th C. Wrought Iron Eel Spears - 20.5x15 This lot features a trio of antique hand-forged wrought iron eel spears, also referred to as leisters or gigs, dating to the 19th or early 20th century. The set includes three distinct designs. One spearhead has four flat, square-ended tines and a tapered tang. A second, centrally placed spear features a long handle with four curved, sharply pointed tines and a cross-hatched textured grip at the base. The third spearhead is composed of six thin, curved, pointed tines and a partial tang containing a small mounting hole. Each piece demonstrates hand-forged construction characteristic of primitive folk-art tools. The collection is presented in a wooden shadow-box frame with a light oak finish and a fine wire mesh backing, to which the spears are secured with thin red wire. No legible maker marks, numbers, or patent dates are present on any of the metal components.
