VERY EARLY ORIENT LINE ROYAL DOULTON SHIPS ASHTRAY - Very heavy and very early ship's china ashtray from the Orient Line. It has a 'pipe stopper' centre and shows on the top the usual Orient Line Logo and the back of the ashtray is marked 'O S N C' (Orient Steam Navigation Company). It is a superb Royal Doulton piece in great condition and the size is approx. 6” (15cm) wide. [ The Orient Steam Navigation Company, also known as the Orient Line, was a British shipping company with roots going back to the late 18th century. From the early 20th century onwards an association began with P&O that eventually culminated in the Orient Line being totally absorbed into that company in the 1960's. ]
