Japanese 18th C. Silk Banner (Imperial Mark) - Japanese 18th C. Silk Banner depicting Phoenix Foo dogs. Measures approx 31” W x 23” L (the blue panel is 5” of the 23” L in folded over position in photo.) Unfolded would make the textile 28” L.Piece has an orange field and has icons (including imperial seal of Japan) on two tassels going down piece. Some loss of fabric on bottom right corner, fragile textile, wear on piece consistent with age, as seen in photography. Remnants of bottom seam are present.
