Tibetan Buddhist Red Yamantaka Thangka /Painting - Intricate Tibetan Buddhist Thangka w/ what appears to be a depiction of the wrathful deity Yamantaka as the central figure. He is surrounded by other figures, buildings, botanical motifs, & other motifs. Yamantaka is a wrathful form of the bodhisattva Manjushri. Instead of sitting on a water buffalo, he appears to be sitting on a foo lion. Thangka measures approx. 44” x 32”. Item appears to be a coated canvas w/ a silk border. A thangka is a Tibetan Buddhist painting on cotton or silk usually depicting a Buddhist deity, scene, or mandala. They are traditionally kept unframed and rolled up when not displayed like a tapestry. See photos for further details.
