Japanese Carved Bone Takarabune Ship w/ Lucky Gods - Japanese carved bone / natural material Takarabune or ”Treasure Ship” w/ a bow featuring the head & wings of a Hou-ou phoenix, figurines of Seven Lucky Gods or Seven Gods of Fortune, & elaborate phoenix & floral scrimshaw detailing around the body of the ship. The Seven Lucky Gods are believed to grant good luck, their names being Ebisu, Daikokuten, Bishamonten, Benzaiten, Jurojin, Hotei, Fukurokuju, & Kichijoten. In Japanese folklore, the Takarabune is a mythical ship piloted through the heavens by the Seven Lucky Gods during the first three days of the New Year. The Seven Lucky Gods each hold some of the treasure items, or takaramono. Also present on the ship is a coral tree trinket box. Item measures approx. 24.5” tall, 18.5” long, & 11.5” wide. Mast & piece on top of the mast are detachable to make the ship more posable and/or for transportation purposes. Item must be sold to a Pennsylvania resident due to the Federal Endangered Species Act. This item cannot be shipped across state lines. PA identification required upon pickup.
