Bidspirit auction | Shaker Rocking Chairs (2)

Shaker Rocking Chairs (2) - Wood rocking chairs approx. 40.5” high x 25.5” wide x 30” deep each. They are Shaker No. 7 rockers made at Mt Lebanon NY by the South Family Furniture Factory in the Shaker Village that was located there. They were most probably made between 1875 and 1920, probably 1880 to 1920. The arm width and front leg finial are consistent with that period and although production ended in the 1940's the numbers produced were small. Consignor thinks the finish is original but not guaranteed. Both styles were made originally, but the tape seat is a replacement.
